The Ghana Crop Disease Detection Challenge represents a vital intersection between advanced computer vision technology and sustainable agriculture. This Zindi initiative seeks to empower farmers by providing accessible tools to identify plant diseases in real time. Developers are tasked with building high-performance machine learning models capable of running on mobile devices to detect pathologies in tomatoes, corn, and peppers. By leveraging object detection, participants play a direct role in improving food security and crop yields within the region. With over 1358 participants already enrolled and a prize pool of 8000 dollars, the competitive spirit is driving genuine innovation for agricultural health. This project bridges the gap between complex biology and practical field application, ultimately fostering a safer and more productive future for farmers in Ghana.
