PROTAGONIST AFTER BRUTALLY KILLING 7,455 HENCHMENS

JUST TO STAND IN FRONT OF THE VILLAIN AND SAY "I CAN'T KILL HIM, IF I KILL HIM, I'LL BECOME JUST LIKE HIM"

This hilarious meme perfectly captures the frustrating trope seen in countless action movies and video games. We often watch the lead character fight through an absolute army of nameless guards without a second thought. They use every weapon at their disposal to reach the final boss. Yet, the moment the protagonist reaches the villain, they suddenly develop a moral code. They claim that taking one final life would make them no better than their enemy. This logic is completely flawed considering the massive trail of destruction they already left in their wake. It remains one of the most recognizable and annoying cliches in modern storytelling.
